Brow Services FAQ's

Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo service that lasts about 1-3 years depending on your skin type and lifestyle after your 6-10 week touch up. Microblading is a manual technique using a small handheld tool made up of tiny needles to add pigment to the skin while creating individual hair-like strokes.

Microblading is similar to getting a tattoo on your body, but it doesn’t go as deep. Tattoos go to the dermis which is why it is permanent whereas microblading goes to the epidermis. This is also why you don’t get discoloration if done properly and also why it lasts for a few years versus a lifetime.

Each individual’s experience will vary due to their skin type and also lifestyle, but it is important to schedule a consultation to go over individual questions and concerns.

Combo brows is a semi-permanent brow tattoo service that lasts about 1-3 years depending on your skin type and lifestyle after your 6-10 week touch up. Combo brows is a combination of manual hairstrokes and machine shading.

Machine shading helps blend hairstrokes and leaves a powder finish. This is great for all skin types, especially oily skin.

All permanent makeup brow services can lasts approximately 1-3 years after touch up and depending on skin type and lifestyle.

Most clients report little to no pain, and would compare it to a threading or tweezing.  Topical lidocaine is applied prior and during the procedure so the client can feel at ease while receiving the treatment. Most fall asleep!

If you’re sensitive, avoid getting PMU service during your period. This causes you to bleed more and can make you more sensitive than normal.

Also, avoid alcohol & caffeine as this can increase more pain than usual

The initial procedure takes about 2.5-3 hours. We begin by consulting about the desire brow look. Then we brow map, which tends to take a bit of time since we want to make sure the brows are perfect before blading. Then we numb the skin for about 15 minutes using topical lidocaine and then we begin the microblading process.

After initial touch up at the 6-10 week mark, highly recommended to wait at least 12 months or more. Too many touch-ups can cause too much scar tissues.

Touch-up after initial is more of a tune up in color or shape that is based on client desire. Pricing is available on site. Please email me if you have specific questions

Microblading is not recommended for those with oily skin or large pores as it’ll give you more blurred results and less retention. If that’s you, you may want to consider microshading combo. The following are not candidates either:

Pregnant or nursing

If you have had permanent makeup done (please message before booking)

If you have diabetes, glaucoma, skin diseases such as Shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment

Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, Skin cancer, Hemophilia, Lupus

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rosacea

Seborrheic dermatitis

If you are on any blood thinners

If you are using an topical skincare such as retinol, accutane

** Thyroid: Can proceed forward with your brow service, but know that the retention may not be great and may require an extra follow up appointment and more often follow up visits.

** Vitiligo: Can perform brow service but results are never guaranteed

** Cancer: Can only perform microblading with a medical clearance from their physician.

** Diabetes: Must have medical clearance before performing procedure

** Accutane: Must get clearance

Microblading create hair-like strokes where as MicroShading is a combination of hair strokes and shading. Clients with little to no hair would benefit with microshading as we are able to fill in between hair giving it a more defined full look. See examples on my portfolio.

Botox is a powerful toxin that blocks the neuromuscular junctions. It takes some time to settle. This is why it is best to wait a month before or after the botox to receive microblade service

Once you go through your required 2 sessions within one year, it is highly suggested that you don’t do anymore touch-ups for at least 1 year. Why? Because the more sessions you do, the more likely you can cause trauma and scar tissue, which makes it difficult to impossible to implement pigment after that. After you get your annual touch-up, my personal suggestion is to wait and receive another at least 12 months or more. Clients who are oily may get touched up a little before the one year mark but I would message directly to determine case by case.

Lip Blush FAQ's

Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo service done on lips with a machine. It takes about 6-8 weeks for full healing right after initial session. The color will fade about 50-70%. The end result is a light flush of color that looks more natural than traditional permanent makeup (PMU). Lip Blushing can last approximately 1-3 years and will vary depending on skin type and lifestyle.

Lip Blush is a flush of color. There are various techniques such as watercolor and soft-touch. The end result is a natural sheer layer of color versus traditional lip tattoo that is more opaque.

Yes. We do coverup but keep in mind, if you have a lot of discoloration on your lips that it will take more than 2 sessions and the first session will have to be orange to color correct. Once we can neutralize the uneven and or dark color, we can then add desired color.

Everyone responds to pain and topical lidocaine differently. A good question to ask yourself … when you’re at the dentist, do they need to numb you a few times? If so, you’re probably going to feel more sensation versus someone who has a high tolerance for pain. Most of my clients say it is “tolerable” and there are spots that are more sensitive. I get a range of people who feel it to people who fall asleep, so use your best judgment.

However, during your sessions we do use topical anesthetics throughout to minimize the pain. Your pre-care is super important and must be followed:

At least 24 hours before, avoid the following:

Aspirin, ibuprofen, alcoholic beverages
Caffeine (coffee and tea)
Fish oil
Niacin
Vitamin E
Alcohol!!!

These all can contribute to thinning your blood. Your lip has three to five cellular layers versus other areas of the face can have up to 16 layers which makes it more sensitive.

Anyone under the age of 18
If you are pregnant or nursing. Why? This effects retention.
On Accutane within the past year
Undergoing chemotherapy
HIV or Hepatitis or any other infections or viral diseases
Cannot tolerate any pain and as a result will flinch
Epileptic

Everyone heals differently and our lips may have various colors which we need to allow time to heal before doing another session. Your 6-8 week touch up is when we can reinforce pigment, alter color and ultimately perfect your lips. From there it is suggested to get an “annual” touch-up when you are ready to get a color boost. This is different for everyone but the average is around 18 months to two years from the touch-up.

We have special rates for additional touch-ups for existing clients only. For anyone who has had previous work done by another artist, we would need to treat this as a first time customer rate. Please send photos if this pertains to you so we can give you proper pricing.

The first 7 days are what we like to call “the ugly stage.” Lips will go through various healing throughout.

The initial will be super bright, swollen, bruising, and tenderness (all various degrees depending on each individual)
Lips will begin to crust and peel (DON’T PICK IT!)
Then the color will “fade away” but really, it’s covered under other tissue which in time, will develop
After about 6-8 week the color will have faded about 50-70% (varies depending on individual)
You’re ready for your touch-up where we will perfect!

Yes, you can definitely do lip blush but it will for sure be more than 2 sessions. And the first session MUST be orange. There’s no way around it. If we try to put any color before it is corrected it may turn ashy/dark brown and just not flattering.

Lip blush can help soften the appearance of asymmetry to fix it, but depending on the degree of unevenness we would suggest fillers. Lip Blush can only be bladed a 1-2 millimeters from natural lip contour for ink to deposit correctly. Your brow artist will consult with you on what is realistic to achieve.

Lip fillers are great pairing with lip blush since it can help perfect the overall shape. If you plan on getting lip fillers before or after, please wait 4 weeks.

If you plan to get lip fillers, please book at least 2 weeks after your initial lip blush session and then wait 4 weeks after your lip filler session to book your second lip blush session.

Color choosing is a partnership which is why time is allotted during our consultation. We will go over color choices that will look best on you based on your skin and lip tone. This is also where we will discuss sessions based on if color correction is needed.

Lip Blushing is similar to microblading where we will be using a machine to insert pigment into the lip. The needle used is a single needle whereas microblading uses a bundle of needles. Microblading can be performed manually and or machine whereas lip blush is by machine. They both go through a “ugly” stage during healing, but they differ in length of time and results due to the skin layers are different.

Absolutely! But keep in mind that each session does take approximately 2-3 hours so you’ll need to plan to be at the studio for most of the day.
