BEFORE (PRE-CARE)

Before and Immediately After

AT LEAST 1 YEAR BEFORE

  • Accutane must get clearance

AT LEAST 2 WEEK BEFORE

  • If you plan on getting fillers it MUST be done at least 2 weeks before because of swelling and bruising

  • At least 2 weeks but suggested 4 weeks to discontinue use of retinol

AT LEAST 1 WEEK BEFORE

  • HYDRATE! Drink lots of water as this will help reduce dryness on your lips

    • Fun Fact: First sign of dehydration will be seen on the lips

  • If you are prone to cold sores it is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication such as Zivorax 5 days before, then the day of. Then 5 days after or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

  • If you have severe dry, flaky lips please begin exfoliating nightly with a lip scrub followed by a lip treatment

    • Suggestion: bite beauty agave lip mask or fresh sugar lip treatment

    • Suggestion: Take arnica pills a week to few days before to help reduce inflammation, swelling and bruising before session and after.

48 HOURS BEFORE

  • The following will make your lips more tender and likely to bleed more so it’ll thin your blood, so they need to be avoided till after procedure

    • No Alcohol

    • No Caffeine

    • No Aspirin, ibuprofen

    • No Caffeine (coffee and tea)

    • No Fish oil

    • No Niacin

    • No Vitamin E

    • No Alcohol!!!

NIGHT BEFORE

  • Exfoliate and add lip treatment to hydrate lips

  • Avoid oils on lips as it will clog pores reducing pigment retention

  • Shower night before or day of as you will want to avoid hot temperature/ steam for first few days as ink is settling

*If you are concerned about any pain, try to avoid getting any permanent service during your period as it will make you more sensitive.

AFTER (POST-CARE)

“After care is the final stage in treatment success. Aftercare instructions is a must. Failure to follow can cause weak retention and possible infection.”

PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT!

IMMEDIATELY AFTER SESSION:

Some swelling and bruising can happen as the lips have less layers than say the brows do. This is completely normal and will gradually go down within a few hours to about 48 hours.

  • First day only, you will take a cotton round with water and gently clean the lymph on lips to prevent scabbing. You will see some pigment come off and that is normal.

  • You can take Advil to help right after session

  • Use ice-pack and take ibuprofen if needed

  • Avoid hot temperature food for 72 hours, especially hot drinks, soup, anything with steam

  • Avoid brushing teeth for 24 hours and opt for mouth wash … this will help pigment in the center of the lips to stay.

  • Color is more vibrant immediately after and will soften up to 50%-70% (this will depend on natural pigment of lips, color choice, aftercare)

  • Keep applying ointment provided by your artist regularly for 7 days. Don’t use anything else.

DAY AFTER TILL ABOUT 6 DAYS AFTER:

  • Lips can be a little sensitive, swollen and bold

    • Do not let your lips get dry and do not pick at your lips

    • Use ointment provided by your artist and or aquaphor, apply thicker layer before bedtime

    • Do not touch your lips with your fingers as it can cause infection. Please always use a q-tip or disposable applicator when applying hydrating lip treatment.

    • Avoid physical contact on lips for a total of 7 days from session

    • DON’T PICK AT THE DRY FLAKES! This can cause bleeding from pulling it off when not ready.

    • Drink through a straw and avoid spicy and salty foods for 7 days

AROUND DAY 3-10:

  • Lips will begin to peel, when it peels depends on each individual:

    • No scrubbing

    • Do not rub, wipe, or scratch area. Use a gentle patting motion ONLY.

    • Do not peel or pick at crust, this could cause pigment loss, scarring, and delayed healing.

    • Do not apply ANY topical cosmetics over area while healing.

APPROXIMATELY 11 DAYS to 6 WEEKS AFTER:

  • Lip color will look like they all disappeared and nothing took. Trust the journey! Our skin puts a layer of skin over as it is healing and begin will begin to reappear.

    • Full healing takes approximately 6-8 weeks.

    • Touch-up is MANDATORY to give you the perfect lip blush!

    • If you plan to get fillers, you may do so 2 weeks later then wait 4 weeks to get lip blush touch up!

    • Do not get lip injections 4 weeks before and after this treatment..
