Hello Beauty Lovers,
Today we are going to discuss lip blushing. This is by far one of the most underrated service in my opinion. Even when I was a makeup artist, lips were always an after thought. And I find that even artists struggle with creating a perfect pout. And now we have a service in the industry that can address a lot of the concerns people have with their lips.
What are the most common concerns about lip?
- Lack of color
- Lipstick wears off
- Lip stick gets messy
- Dull lips
So what is lip blush?
Lip blushing is a popular cosmetic tattooing technique designed to enhance the appearance of the lips. It involves depositing pigments into the uppermost layers of the skin, creating a semi-permanent makeup effect. The goal of lip blushing is to enhance the natural color, shape, and symmetry of the lips, resulting in a more defined and youthful look. Every lip blush session is customized which makes this perfect for everyone and their lip concerns.
During the lip blushing procedure, a trained artist uses a specialized tattoo machine to apply the pigment. The pigment is carefully selected to match or enhance the client’s natural lip color, and the artist takes into account the client’s skin tone and desired outcome. Color is almost always customized, so a suggestion is to bring visual representations of colors you like and don’t like. And if you have a favorite go to daily lip product(s), bring them! The more you can explain to your artist with clarity, the better your result will be.
What does a lip blush session look like?
The process begins with a consultation where the artist and the client discuss their preferences and expectations. The artist will outline the desired lip shape and color, ensuring the client is comfortable with the proposed design. We don’t start till we get your approval with lip shape and color. It’s important we involve you throughout the entire process so there’s no big surprise at the end.
Once we are done with mapping and color selection, we will then apply topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Please make sure to follow the pre-care to have the best experience during your session (LIP BLUSH PRE & POST CARE)).
After 20 minutes of numbing, the artist will start the lip blushing process. The pigments are deposited into the lips using precise techniques, such as feathering or shading, to create a soft and natural-looking result. The artist may adjust the color intensity and layer multiple pigments to achieve the desired effect. With lip blush we have the ability to give you a soft, natural flush of color to a more opaque lipstick look. This will all be discussed at the beginning of your service during consultation time.
After the procedure, the lips may appear slightly swollen and the color may appear more vibrant than the final result. Don’t worry, this will subside. It takes about 5-7 days for the initial healing to happen. This is where the lips will go through a healing process that involves mild scabbing and peeling.stages of dryness and flakiness. And it’ll take about 6-10 weeks for the lips to be fully healed.
The longevity of lip blushing varies from person to person but typically lasts between one to three years. Factors such as individual skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare routines can affect how long the pigments last. With lifestyle, consider if you’re someone who drinks hot tea everyday and throughout the day. The heat of your drink will open the pores and push the center of the ink out quicker than someone who doesn’t usually drink hot drinks. To maintain your lip blush, it is suggested to get periodic touch-ups. After the initial 6-10 week touch up, we suggest getting your “annual” touch up in about 1.5-2 years.
Overall, lip blushing offers a way to enhance and define the lips, providing a semi-permanent makeup solution for those seeking fuller, more vibrant lips with improved symmetry and color.
